Validation Center

Compare KnownX MPT with published data for real satellites, on element sets you choose.

Open the Validation Center from the Mission Launcher, or by clicking a status badge in the System Bar.

Import a TLE

Choose Import TLE… and pick a file. A file can hold one element set or a history of element sets for the same object. Lines that fail their checksum are rejected.

Benchmark vs SGP4

For a single element set.

KnownX and SGP4 each propagate the same satellite for 72 hours. The report gives the difference between them as radial, in-track and cross-track components, in a table and a chart.

Forward prediction

For a history of element sets.

The history is checked for manoeuvres, and epochs affected by one are excluded.
KnownX predicts forward from the oldest remaining element set.
The prediction is scored against each later element set at its own epoch. SGP4’s own extrapolation is scored the same way for comparison.

Export

Choose Export Report CSV to save any report. A forward prediction can also export the epochs it excluded.

Reports are saved to Documents\KnownX MPT\Validation Reports.

Reading a report

Each report states the conditions it applies to beside the numbers. SGP4 is an analytic model fitted to tracking data, so a report measures agreement between two models. The technical note on propagation accuracy explains how to interpret the figures and gives KNOWN’s recorded results.
